Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck met with the students and faculties of Sherubtse College in Kanglung, Trashigang yesterday.
Addressing over thousands of students, Her Majesty highlighted about suicide being a public concern in the country.
Record shows, every year, 73 Bhutanese commit suicide and the number have been increasing.
Her Majesty addressed about understanding social problems and avoiding risky behaviours. HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, physical abuse and reproductive health were some of the issues among the young people.
Her Majesty also granted 50,000 ngultrum and a set of books to the College.
Yesterday, Her Majesty visited National Handloom Development Center in Khaling.
Her Majesty the Queen Mother is on a high-level advocacy visit in the eastern Dzongkhags.
