A three-day state visit to Bhutan by Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, is likely to deepen Bhutan-Bangladesh relations further.
Bhutan-Bangladesh relationship is over four decades old and continues to hold special place in the hearts of Bangladesh people as Bhutan was the first country to recognize Bangladesh’s independence in 1971.
It is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s third visit to the country.
The Bangladesh Ambassador to Bhutan, Jishnu Roy Choudhury, in his earlier interview said bilateral relations have grown in depth, and this visit by Her Excellency will take a notch higher in already stronger bonds between the two countries.
“The visit will obviously widen and deepen our bilateral relations, and also the common cause towards autism which we will be fighting against together. This will be a testimony to our commitment to this friendship. Bhutan was also the first country the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited and also during SAARC Summit, this time obviously we will share and discuss many things and it will help us to reach a common goal which will help building in the relations between the countries.”
While in the country, the Prime Minister will also attend an international conference on autism. She will chair a high-level discussion titled, “Enabling countries to successfully address autism and other Neuro Developmental Disorders as part of their Sustainable Development Goals” at the Royal Banquet Hall, tomorrow.
During her visit, the two countries will sign six deals and memorandum of understanding on removal of double taxation, agriculture, cultural affairs, use of inland water by Bhutan, standards of products and unveiling of foundation stone plaque for the Chancery of the Embassy of Bangladesh at Hejo.
