The State Mining Corporation Limited will officially take up its first mining operation in Habrang under Phuentshogthang Gewog of Samdrup Jongkhar, next month.
The lease agreement for Habrang coal mine was signed between the Mining Corporation and Department of Geology and Mines, yesterday.
The mineral extracted will be used for domestic purpose. The coal mine has a probable deposit of 6,00,000 metric tons and will be supplying 5000 metric tons of coal every month to the cement industries.
The project is estimated to cost Nu 175 M.
