As proposed by the villagers of Gooyoom Chiwog under Chongshing Gewog in Pema Gatshel, the government dismantled the old Lhakhang which was in dilapidated state and rebuilt the entire structure at the same place.
The construction of the Lhakhang, which started in mid last year was completed in March this year. The Gooyoom Sangay Choling Lhakhang was consecrated yesterday. Villagers there are happy that they will now a place to conduct religious rituals and other spiritual events.
“The previous Lhakhang was old and not in condition to host rituals. Now, I am excited that we will be able to arrange more rituals,” said one of the villagers, Sonam Norzin.
Some other villagers said, the ambience around the newly built Lhakhang is peaceful, making it a perfect place to organise spiritual ceremonies.
“The new Lhakhang has all important religious statues and we are eager to visit the Lhakhang time and again,” said another villager named Ziney Dema.
The Lhakhang was constructed with funds of Nu 4m and will benefit over 250 people in the village.
