Her Majesty the Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck donated Nu 6 million to the National Referral Hospital on Her Majesty’s 60th birthday yesterday.
Her Majesty made the donation to strengthen the pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“It shows that Her Majesty has a lot of compassion and concern for the children who are admitted to ICUs,” said the President of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), Lhab Dorji. “At the moment we have around five ICU beds in the pediatric ward and is not sufficient.”
The President added that the gift from Her Majesty would enhance the capacity of the ICUs to accommodate more children.
