Thuendrel is a part of the year-long celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India.
Thuendrel: Inter-Faith Chanting was held at Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Point) today. The chanting highlighted the enduring shared histories that connect Bhutan and India. The voices of three different faiths including meditative chanting of Buddhist monks from Zhung Dratshang, vedic notes and Gurbani invocations from India were presented at the event.
According to the organisers “Thuendrel presents the profundity of music from both countries, celebrating peace and harmony. Through its many voices and intonations, the event symbolises unity in diversity.”
The year 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations, established in 1968, between Bhutan and India.
