An online Integrated Library system, KOHA, was launched to mark the 3rd International Archives day today. With the system, people can now access the National Library’s collections online by logging on to www.library.gov.bt.
As part of the day, Home Minister Dawa Gyeltshen also inaugurated the archival document exhibition.
The exhibition displays some of the Bhutanese literature on religion, culture and history. Also, a collection of old and rare books and manuscripts ranging from list of land records to agreements to executive orders are on display.
The Chief Archivist of the National Library and Archives, Kunzang Delek said archiving is important to preserve the country’s rich cultural heritage.
“Through a good archive system, we will able to preserve our cultural identity intact.”
The first International archives day was observed in the country in 2016.
