Bumdeling Lower Secondary School is not happy with the speed of both mobile and lease line connectivity. Without a proper network, school administration says it has been a challenge while corresponding mails and doing other research works.

With advancement of technology, the teaching and learning system have also undergone changes. Today, teachers and students depend heavily on internet to gather essential information of the subjects. But in Bumdeling School, slow internet connection is hampering to obtain curriculum based information. The school management said, the speed of the internet is same as snail’s pace but they have to pay monthly charges of Nu 10,000 to Bhutan Telecom.

Forget downloading documents, even to open the mail box, it takes ages, said the teachers.

“The 3G never works. Even 2G is very slow. So, we resorted to lease line, which is also very slow. Internet is very much required in today’s world, where teaching method is in digital form,” said the Principal of Bumdeling School, Ranbir Tamang.

The matter was also raised during the recent Dzongkhag Tshogdu. However, Telecom officials said, they will install 3G or 4G network in the locality by April or May, this year.

Bumdeling Lower Secondary School has over 300 students with 17 teaching staff.
