The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has forwarded the case of voluntary manslaughter to the Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court, today. In the case, man, aged 28 is facing murder charges in the death of 25-year-old man, which happened at Toorsa in January, this year.
As per the charge sheet, the deceased was stabbed once in the right shoulder and twice at the back by the suspect.
This heinous act happened following heated argument between the suspect and the deceased.
It also said before the crime took place, the victim fled away from the scene after the suspect slapped and threatened him with the knife. But, suspect caught up with him after a short chase, and he fell to the ground where he was stabbed to death.
OAG pointed out that the suspect tried to hide the mortal remains of the victim in the sand. It is also accusing three other suspects in their 20s for failing to report the crime to the legal authority.
Of the three, two had witnessed the crime scene but didn’t render help to save the victim, while another one knew about the crime but failed to report it.
Phuentshogling Police nabbed the prime suspect from bordering town of Jaigoan day after the incident. The charge sheet stated that the main suspect has three past records related to drugs and larceny cases. Another suspect also has similar past criminal record.
The OAG is requesting the court to penalise the suspects in line with law and asked the prime suspect to pay compensation equal to maximum of ten years of the daily minimum national wage rate to legal beneficiaries of the deceased. Other than this, OAG requested the court to order the suspect to bear the expenditure for funeral rites.
