Coinciding with the celebration of International Nurses’ Day today, the Bhutan Raven Motorcycle Club donated Nu 1m to the Phuentshogling hospital. The amount will be used to procure hospital equipment.
The club generated money from New Year Eve party last year. The club says the donation is giving back to the society and the government for all that it does for the welfare of its citizens.
“The royal government already does so much in providing free health services in the country. The citizens too have a responsibility to pay back,” Dawa Gyeltshen, the club’s General Secretary said.
“We don’t necessarily have to be in a government service to contribute to the society. The donation was made with a hope it would be of some help to fellow citizens.”
The hospital says it has all necessary equipment but it is not adequate to keep up with the growing number of patients.
The hospital management said procurement of additional equipment would help provide better and faster health care services.
