The final session of the second parliament will be held from June 15 until June 29. During the session, parliamentarians will deliberate on the Interim Budget for Financial Year (FY) 2018-19.
“The interim budget covers recurrent budget, spill over works which are ongoing. Then there are emergency services items, which pertain to patients referring outside for treatment. Buying medicines for use during disasters,” said the National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo.
That aside, the house will discuss Fiscal Performance for FY 2016-17 and revised budget for FY 2017-18. Re-deliberation of Audit Bill 2017 and going through follow-up report on the implementation of 9th and 10th sessions’ resolutions are also on the agenda.
Prime Minister will present ‘State of the Nation Report during the joint sitting of parliament where both National Assembly and Council members will attend. The National Assembly Speaker Jigme Zangpo said the decision to convene the 11th and last session of the parliament is in accordance with the constitution.
“The constitution’s article 12 section 5 states every six month, we have to hold one session. So we are going to hold the 11th session as mandated by the constitution.”
