The fourth India-Bhutan Tennis Tournament is concluding tomorrow. The finals of women’s singles, veteran singles, and lucky mixed doubles were played today at the National Tennis Centre in Changlimithang, Thimphu.
In the lucky mixed doubles final, the Indo-Bhutanese pair of Vilasier Khate and Patriza Tshering teamed up against Tenzin Singye Dorji and Mandhoj Pradhan. The first set was a tight affair.
The Indo-Bhutan pair pushed hard but some hard hitting by Tenzin Singye Dorji, and deft placing by Mandhoj Pradhan meant the two stole the first set 7-5.
Second set was not much of a contest, Tenzing Singye Dorji and Mandhoj Pradhan strolled to a 6-4 set win to seal the tournament in their name.
“We are really happy to have won this doubles India-Bhutan fourth series tournament. This is a really a great moment to be the winners,” said Tenzin Singye Dorji, winner of lucky mixed doubles
His partner expressed similar joy on winning the lucky mixed doubles match. “Well, it was a very tough match but however, we were lucky enough to win over the best players,” added Mandhoj Pradhan
Earlier in the morning, India’s Shivika Burman defeated Bhutan’s Patrizia Tshering six-love, six-love in the women’s singles final.
It was an all India affair in the veteran singles final. Thongban Tulesor Singh from Manipur defeated Roshan Kant Gishing from Darjeeling in straight sets. The men’s singles final will be played tomorrow morning.
