By the end of this month, truckers in Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag will no longer have to struggle to find a space to park their trucks.
The Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde is developing a parking lot near industrial servicing area. Additional facilities such as streetlights are being fixed at the area to enable truckers to park their trucks any time.
The space will accommodate around 30 trucks. It is expected to be complete when this month ends. The existing truck parking space has been booked for construction works of a new bridge over Dungsam Chhu. Due to this, truck drivers bearing the brunt.
They park their trucks wherever the spaces are available: along the roadsides, near residential areas within thromde and at industrial servicing area.
“If we get parking space, we will not face the problem of not getting a parking,” said one of the truck drivers, Jeveen.
Others couldn’t agree more. “Without a proper truck parking we face problem. We park at various places and people complain about this. I can’t wait to park my truck at the new parking,” added another trucker, Rinku Singh
