Heavy rainfall last night caused major road damage near Kuri-Gongri confluence on the Gyalpoizhing-Nanglam highway, which is nearly 42-kilometres away from Gyalpoizhing town in Monggar.
Department of Roads officials in Lingmethang said the landslide eroded the base of the road causing road block. A few vehicles travelling via the highway remained stranded at the block area.
Machines were deployed at the site to clear the road. Officials expect the highway to be open to traffic by tomorrow afternoon.
