Damphu hospital in Tsirang brought back the ultrasound machine after it was repaired in India. The hospital resumed its ultrasound services yesterday.
The ultrasound machine remained idle for over four months after the breakdown of accusation module, which is the motherboard of the machine.
During that time, patients and expectant mothers were referred to Gelegphu and Thimphu hospitals for ultrasound appointments.
Yesterday, patients queued outside the unit where ultrasound machine is being performed. One of the patients was 28-year-old Lhakpa Deki Tamang. She had come to seek first trimester ultrasound appointments.
“I was at work when my sister told me that the ultrasound machine has been functional. So I came to seek ultrasound appointment. I glad to do my ultrasound here because I don’t have to travel far to Gelegphu,” she added.
Fifteen patients visited the ultrasound unit to avail themselves of the services. Damphu hospital’s staff said the number of patients will swell once they inform the Basic Health Units.
The hospital caters to Tshangkha and Drukjeygang Gewogs in Dagana District as well.
